Shooting with a view camera gives the photographer perspective control. When you take a photo of a tall building with a normal camera, when you point the camera up to get the top of the building, the perspective will make the building look like it is falling away from you. With a view camera, the front and back standards are pointed straight at the building and then the front standard is raised to "look up" at the top of the building but the sides of the building stay straight. In this shot, you see how the pillars stay even with the sides of the photo.
