Beautiful Scenery Along the Colorado River

Shafer trail is a relatively easy road that can be driven by most stock 4x4's and SUV's as long as the weather is cooperating. It runs from Potash Road, just out of Moab, along the southern side of the Colorado River to Canyonlands National Park. Visitors at Dead Horse Point State Park can see the road below. Going from Potash Road eastward, the road winds along the river bottom and then quickly exits via some switchbacks up a very high cliff. If you are squeemish over heights you might be better off finding a different trail!

I'm always amazed at the millions of rock formations in southern Utah
Astounding views are everywhere
A tour boat takes visitors along the river
Exiting the canyon doesn't take long up the steep switchbacks, Its a long way down!
