Scriptures that Refute the Doctrine of Election
These are just a few scriptures that prove the doctrine of election (also known as predestination), one of Calvinism's points, is absolutely not true.
Titus 2:11
11 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.
1 Timothy 4:10 ESV
For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
Jesus made salvation available to ALL but not ALL receive it. Like one man said, “what Jesus did is SUFFICIENT for all to be saved but only for those who actually accept Him does it become EFFICIENT!”
John 5:40 ASV
and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
Matthew 23:37 ESV
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!
Notice Jesus said they unwilling, not that they were unable. Calvinism says that some are unable to accept Christ, that it is God’s will that they never can come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and are therefore, condemned to hell no matter what. This is totally unscriptural and it is Satanic in its origin. It is poison doctrine to the body of Christ because if a person really believes it, they will think they can do anything they want without repentance and that there is no need to tell the world about Christ. There is really nothing good and nothing true about Calvinism. There is no true middle ground that is true doctrine. Compromise is deadly to a Christian. In Christianity there are blacks and whites. For example, Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father. There is no other way and there is no other God. We are saved by FAITH, not by WORKS, etc. Jesus died so that every person on this earth has the ability to call out to Him and to be saved.
Revelation 22:17 KJV
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
John 12:32 KJV
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
Acts 10:34 NLT
Then Peter replied, "I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism.
This proves that election is not scriptural. How can a God who shows no favoritism choose to save some and damn others?
Matthew 7:9-11 ESV
9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Salvation is definitely a GOOD thing! God, being an excellent Father, will not keep salvation away from those who desire it.
2 Peter 3:9 ESV
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
1 John 2:2 NLT
He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins--and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
Hebrews 6:3-6 ESV
4 For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.
If election were true, then people would not be able to walk away from their salvation since God has FORCED it on them. There won’t be a lot of people who do that but some will. They must fit the criteria involved in the scriptures though.
John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Isaiah 53:6 ESV
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Hebrews 2:9 NLT
What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position "a little lower than the angels"; and because he suffered death for us, he is now "crowned with glory and honor." Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.
1 Timothy 2:5,6 ESV
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
John 3;16 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Titus 2:11 NLT
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.
There are people who God will cut off! They become enemies of God because of they continually refuse the Holy Spirit who tries to draw them to God. The Bible tells us God hated Esau. A lot of preachers will say, well the Bible didn’t really mean “hate” like we would hate something but it DOES! The word used in the Bible means “an UTTER hatred.” People who don’t know the Word of God try to make it into something it isn’t. There are enemies of God and God hates them but Christ still died to make a way for them if they will repent. When they don’t, God hardens their hearts. In Romans 1, Paul, speaking of homosexuals, says God turned them over to a “reprobate” mind, meaning a “mind void of judgement.” God would rather them accept Christ and His sacrifice but when they choose not to, God hardens their hearts.
Proverbs 29:1 ESV
He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.
Exodus 9:12 NLT
But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and just as the LORD had predicted to Moses, Pharaoh refused to listen.
Proverbs 1:24-26 NLT
“I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention. 25 You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered. 26 So I will laugh when you are in trouble! I will mock you when disaster overtakes you—
