McMullan Rice Mill

Shannon McMullan and his wife, Lori, from Hickory, Mississippi met near Hartwell, Georgia on October 14 and 15, 2019 to learn more about the McMullan family. Jim McMullan and Kay Cleveland told us more about our Georgian McMullan cousins and took us to New Prospect Baptist Church and Northview cemetery in Hartwell to see family graves. We discovered that the land mentioned below was actually the site of a grist mill, not a rice plantation. Rice was the name of one of the married McMullan's.

On November 8, 2013, I received the following email and photographs from Nick Constant.

Hi Jay, my family owns 5 acres on Rice Mill Rd in Hartwell Ga and the old McMullins Mill as it was called.

We have it listed for sale on loopnet.com and Zillow at 5 acres and $62,500.00

I thought you might like to have some pictures of the ruins of this historical mill which is identified in several places as part of the Mcmullan rice plantation operations, most notably in the Gathering Leaves historical website.
