The
JayBird Rx2T is a fast, high performance, two-place, aerobatic
sport airplane. As with all airplanes designed by McMullan Aircraft
Design, the airplane is designed for big, tall pilots. Pilots
and passengers up to 6' 4" tall and baggage fit comfortably into
the 45 inch wide cockpit. The airplane will accommodate engines
from 150 to 230 horsepower but was designed exclusively for the
time tested and proven Ford 3.8 liter V-6. The Douglas Fir and
Birch plywood fuselage offers great safety and strength to the
airframe. The JayBird Rx2T uses the same fuselage and engine as
the JayBird Rx2 but uses a tapered wing and taildragger landing
configuration for faster cruise speed and better climb performance.
Construction Materials
‚
Wood is still one of the best materials for building an airplane.
It is easy to work with and only needs inexpensive tools to work
with. For this reason the JayBird is built with clear vertical
grain Douglas Fir and Birch aircraft grade plywood.
